На сьогодні Мала академія наук України – це той осередок для талановитої молоді, у якому формується майбутнє нації та виховується її наукова зміна. Вона організує і координує науково-дослідну діяльность учнів, створює умови для їх творчого розвитку та сприяє вибору майбутньої професії. Учні, які беруть участь у роботі МАН, вдосконалюють свої дослідницькі навички, вміння працювати з науковими джерелами, презентувати результати.
Викладачі кафедри математики, фізики та методик їх навчання вже не один рік співпрацюють з Сумським територіальним відділенням Малої академії наук України – це гурткова робота, консультації щодо підготовки наукових робіт та робота в журі конкурсу. 18 лютого 2025 року відбувся ІІ (обласний) етап Всеукраїнського конкурсу-захисту науково-дослідницьких робіт учнів – членів Малої академії наук України у 2024/2025 навчальному році. У журі конкурсу працювали доценти кафедри: в секції математики – Юрій В’ячеславович Хворостіна, в секції фізики та астрономії – Алла Іванівна Салтикова. Конкурс проходив в три етапи: спочатку заочне оцінювання робіт, потім був онлайн захист постерів і останній етап – наукова конференція. Спілкування з творчою молоддю було цікавим і продуктивним. У результаті були визначені переможці, які будуть презентувати свої роботи на наступному етапі конкурсу.
У найближчій перспективі перед сьогоднішніми учнями стане вибір життєвого шляху і знадобляться вміння критично мислити, ставити цілі та досягати результату. Впевнені, що досвід, отриманий під час підготовки та захисту науково-дослідницької роботи допоможе їм у цьому.

Today, the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine serves as a hub for talented young people, where the nation’s future is shaped and its next generation of scientists is nurtured. It organizes and coordinates students’ research activities, creates opportunities for their creative development, and helps them choose their future careers. Students participating in the Academy’s work hone their research skills, learn to work with scientific sources, and present their findings.
Faculty members from the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Teaching Methods have been collaborating with the Sumy Regional Branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for many years—this includes club activities, consultations on preparing research papers, and serving on the competition jury. On February 18, 2025, the second (regional) stage of the All-Ukrainian competition for the defense of research papers by students—members of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine—for the 2024/2025 academic year took place. The competition jury included associate professors from the department: Yurii Vyacheslavovych Khvorostina in the mathematics section and Alla Ivanivna Saltykova in the physics and astronomy section. The competition took place in three stages: first, a remote evaluation of the projects; then, an online poster defense; and finally, a scientific conference. Interacting with these creative young people was both interesting and productive. As a result, the winners were selected, and they will present their projects at the next stage of the competition.
In the near future, today’s students will face the choice of a life path and will need the ability to think critically, set goals, and achieve results. We are confident that the experience gained during the preparation and defense of their research projects will help them in this endeavor.
